Suffolk is served by a total of 19 community transport operators of various size and diversity. Between them the operating organisations provide vital transport to more than 100,000 passengers covering in excess of 500,000 miles per year. Combined the community operators serve the county with a fleet of 70 minibuses and more than 300 car drivers.
The community transport operators offer a wide range of services, which help hundreds of vulnerable people - who have no other access to transport - to attend medical appointments, go shopping, pay bills, attend social activities and visit family and friends. Without the services offered by community transport groups in Suffolk many people would be left isolated and unable to carry out routine tasks. Services currently available in the county included door to door dial-a-ride minibuses, community car schemes, community bus services and group transport.
Suffolk Community Transport (SCT) is an umbrella group with the aim of supporting, enhancing and increasing the sustainability of the individual community transport operators in the county. SCT is a registered company limited by guarantee with charitable aims.
